Good times

So today was fun.  Actually, yesterday was fun too so I should start there.  Last night I went out to see my awesome neighbor's band The Lonely Wolves play their first gig at Whisky a Go Go.  They rocked.  It was fun.  I wasn't sure what to expect from such a legendary venue - I was worried I'd be way underdressed, whatever - it was all kinds of relaxed.  Lots of fun, actually, I rarely get out to see live music and I need to do it more often, obviously!  Hung out with some Second City peeps at Boardner's afterwards (they had a show yesterday), went home, went to sleep.

So TODAY I went and had a nice lunch then went to see Batman: The Dark Knight with my buddy.  GREAT film.  It's long.  I thought it was building a little slowly until I realized that a lot more movie was left than I'd thought.  It's an epic.  Really.  They could've split it into two films easily.  GREAT story, and no, people aren't completely crazy about the Oscar thing like I thought they must be (I mean come on, it's a BATMAN movie!)  Heath Ledger is absolutely brilliant.  Riveting.  Electric.  I had no idea.  I'm going to have to go watch his other works now.

Hung out with my friend after the film for a little while then went to Amoeba Records for the first time (yes, as cool as people say, those "people" are smarter than I tend to give them credit for being), came home.  Then I remembered I'd forgotten dog food and cat litter and I really couldn't put it off any longer, so I took Teddy to Petco.  Now, I'm not sure what happened in the universe today, but Petco was THE place to be.  Now, y'all know Teddy is not the most sociable dog with strangers, though he LOVES other dogs, so I'm never quite sure how trips out into public are going to go - and today the store was full of people.  I have to say, my dog was awesome.   He was sooo good and didn't cower or pull and he walked right with me as I pushed the cart and didn't growl at anyone who tried to pet him (though he did back away a bit) and was super-happy about the other dogs - he was sniffing at treats and listening to me and he didn't tuck his tail - he was just the best version of himself he could be.  I was so proud.   I think it's just been a while and he was happy to get out of the house, but whatever - it was fun.  Which is good, 'cause we were there for FOREVER because it was so busy.  And the people who were there today were so nice and friendly and patient and chatty - I don't think I've ever had such a pleasant, understanding group of people around my dog.  Whoever says LA is a big unfriendly city isn't paying attention to all the evidence to the contrary.
