Song titles
So okay, I couldn't decide how to title this entry. I used "On My Own" for a bulletin on myspace. I was considering "I'm all alone..." (from the drive-in song from Grease, which isn't titled that, but) or "If the Phone Don't Ring" from a fabulous bluesy song I learned as a kid ("if the phone don't ring, you'll know it's me"... one of the best lines ever written) - or maybe using a line from Some Kind of Wonderful (the best MOVIE ever) - like, "It's gonna feel good to stand on my own...."
But I didn't. Anyway, the whole deal is that I left my agency yesterday, and all I have to say about that is that leaving is always unpleasant, and sometimes it's more unpleasant than others.
So moving on! I'm agent-hunting again, which is fun and frustrating all at once. You find a few agents you really really think are fabulous and wonderful and with whom you could form a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship, you send them your headshot and resume telling them why it's SO CLEAR that you were meant to work together (but in much more restrained tones) - and then you hope they feel the same way about you, and then you spend your days listening to the crickets and the aforementioned phone NOT ringing. Okay, so ideally you go about your business and do great acting things and networking things and that helps draw the right people to you, but let's be honest. Part of you is still waiting for that phone to ring. At least, part of ME always is.
Er, I just remembered mine's on silent... brb... okay, better.
In other news, I got a new color which is streakier, darker, and a little too ashy I think, but still kinda nice, I like it toned-down a bit. We'll see, it's still new. Musical improv continues to be very fun and scary all at once, our improv class is starting to write sketch material (and we have a free show this Sunday at Second City, whee!), and I'm probably heading up to LA tonight to see one of the current Level 5 shows at SC. We'll see - if it's sold out I may stay home. It's quite the hike. I'm working on finding public transportation options, but so far I can only find a 10:10 departure from Union Station to get home, and that's just not late enough.
That's all I got. OH NO WAIT! I saw the missile launch the other day, which was cool. It's WAY cooler at dusk when you can see the shockwaves in the con trails, etc, but it was still neat. I've now seen an ICBM launch, which is just neat and weird for a kid who grew up in the 80's.
Basically - bright orange/red shooting star/plane type of thing. I saw what I believe were its first two stages before it went behind a hill - I had to drive up between Alpine and Julian to get out of cloud cover to see it - really fun easy night. Found some beautiful countryside up there, very quiet, campgrounds, etc - have to go back when there's light and I can see it properly.
May have to go camping up there. The stars are incredible. I've never lived anywhere that gets this dark at night, even though we're still in the 'burbs - but when you get just a little ways east into the mountains you can see the milky way so clearly and you can't find your constellations because so many other stars are almost as bright - it's neat.

"All BY Myself" seems to be a good choice too.
I'm proud of you. Really. XO
