WAY overdue blog post.

Wow, has it REALLY been that long?  I guess it has.

So okay, the AASD Festival was a BLAST.  Saw a few other programs besides the one I was in and really enjoyed the variety of pieces.  Some I hated, some I loved, the acting ranged from brilliant to okay, but what FUN is it to go see 5 or 6 things in one night?  WAY more fun than I remembered.   I wish I was in something right now, being on stage was fabulous.  I love acting.

Fat Pig was amazing.  Just so's you know, that Ashlie Atkinson chick is REALLY good.   The whole cast was really good.  The script is really good, the production was really good, the space was really good, we had front row seats, which was really good - you get the point.  But boy, I LOVE the role of Helen and I was really anxious I'd be sitting there hating the performance - no way.  She was SO solid and simple and awesome and I just couldn't possibly say enough good things about this woman.  I really loved it.

Last week was spent largely in LA - helped Bonnie with her showcase, hit up an audition for the LA Film School, ate some yummy food, etc.  The showcase was really great - wonderful people both in the cast and the audience, and it was fun to get to see some old buds.  It seems like LA is SUCH a small town - I don't even live there, and yet I see people I know all the time, so it's like you're always reuniting with an old friend.  And no, it's not quite the same dynamic as those close, tight-knit friends - but hey, I've got those too.  As someone who NEVER saw any use for casual friends growing up and kind of sneered at social gatherings, non-intimate relationships, etc - boy howdy is it fun as I'm getting older.  It's NICE to see people you're fond of but not enmeshed with, if that makes sense....   And I got to know some of those casual acquaintances a bit better too, and it's always fun discovering things you have in common, etc.

Two birthdays, also - Terry's and young A's.  For Terry, we did dinner and some pool (found a pool hall downtown that's got great tables and great prices and NO PEOPLE on Sundays, hooray!), for A we went to his house for BBQ and cake.   SO much fun shopping for little wee kids, I have to say.  Terry's harder to buy for.

So at the end of this week I start my next set of improv classes at Second City - Musical Improv and Conservatory Level 4, with a little trip to Vegas in-between.  It's Fan Faire time again, which means that Terry's got to go work (yay, Sony!) and I get to come with and gamble.  Whee!   Unfortunately, all this fun and merriment means I have to turn down super-cool events this weekend, but I guess the world isn't revolving around my schedule this week.  Sigh.  Maybe next week...

On a final note, my mother is MIA.  She SUPPOSEDLY went to NY to help my aunt get some stuff ready to move to Florida... now, I THOUGHT she'd be back by now, but I haven't heard from her in ages and ages (a week?) and that's just weird.  If you see her, tell her to give me a call, will you?
