Cool people rock.
Just got back from acting class, and I just have to rave about it one more little wee bit. First off, the material people are working on is great, and they're doing great things with it. The people are nice and supportive and funny and work hard and it's a great group. And the instructor is smart as hell and a good guy and spent some time talking to me about my play in a way that's super-helpful - not that he's seen it or any of the work, just in the sense that as an actor with a ton more experience than me (and with directing experience), he's used to the angst and the self-doubt and differences in process, etc - and, frankly, I appreciate anyone who'll tell me to chill out when I need to be told to chill out.
I'm just super-grateful for all the theatre people in my life right now - inspiring, motivating, cool peeps! ![]()
In a completely DIFFERENT category of cool people is the quite amusing (Dutch?) old-timer-type guy running the feed store I went to today, who told me that tobacco is an effective swine dewormer. The way he put it was a little cruder, but you get the point. I just love those moments in life, where you go, "WTF??? And where on earth is everyone else when this stuff happens???"
Last category of cool people: old friends who call you to make sure they didn't say anything awful the last time they called you, who then proceed to geek out on movies with you. Miss you, babe! ![]()
So, moving on to news of the home front. (What??? Who talks like that???) The fish have had some casualties lately, but I've learned a lot from that and I think we're on our way to a way healthier tank. The tomato plants are huge and hopefully will make lots of tomatoes - if they make as many tomatoes as they're making tomato flowers, everyone within a 200-mile radius should have enough tomatoes to last all summer.
In the world of reality TV - the pirate show is watchable when you don't really want to pay much attention to the TV (and some of the contestants make great eye candy) and Holmes on Homes is super-cool if you're into house remodeling/fixing/contracting stuff.
Tomorrow's plan: go to the dollar store for props and somewhere else for shoes before rehearsal tomorrow. I bought a housedress today.... sigh. ![]()
