Vacation, all I ever wanted...
New York City is FABULOUS. We went over an extended Memorial Day weekend, and I've named it Disneyland for Actors.
We saw Moon for the Misbegotten (really really good), In a Dark Dark House (the new Neil LaBute play in previews, really good), Spamalot (fabulously silly fun), and Rent.
Quick rant: WHY is Rent so popular??? It's Hair with HIV in place of the Vietnam War, with really repetitive lyrics in songs that are way, way, WAY too long. And for the record, let me just state - I really liked the cast, the staging, the sets, and we had great seats. It's just not a show that lived up to the hype, in my opinion. That said, I'd very much like to be in it.
We ate too much, went up the Empire State Building, saw LOTS of sailor boys (Fleet Week, don'tcha know) and walked our asses off. Unfortunately, that last part's not literal - see previous comment about eating.
In local news: Since being home (we returned Monday evening) I've had an audition for Mad Men (didn't knock it out of the park, which was a nice reminder to step it up - that's a show I'd love to be on, and it was a good role, darn it), rehearsed the play I'm in (SO fun, starting to relax a bit), visited my agent, did a wee bit of interning, went to improv class, saw Desire Under the Elms at a great local theatre (more O'Neill, woot!) and took an improv workshop (which was FABULOUS). Tomorrow: Improv performance, think goooood thoughts for me!
Having way too much fun, really.
Now, if only I had a garden and a pony....

Remind me to make you watch "RENT" on DVD. Not because you are in trouble, but b/c I've heard/I believe that the movie version is actually a lot better than the stage version.
For several reasons, which we will discuss later.
Enjoy the City! XO

Silly lady, I DID enjoy the city, but now I'm home. Although I'm going to SECOND City today, so maybe that's the city I should enjoy... well, I'm sure I will!
