THAT was fun!
Okay, so today was a good day. But first - I should state that I have the most fabulous husband in the world, who tolerated me totally losing my mind when traffic tried to turn me into a homicidal maniac on the way to my audition this morning. Sigalert LIED to me. The people on the radio who said the day after the Superbowl is the #1 sick day - they've never been to LA on the day after the game, apparently. Let's just say that traffic was BAD.
Anyway, I had an audition today at Warner Brothers. I got there, I walked up to the building and discovered that Aaron Sorkin (who is my god and personal savior) has his offices in the same building. Well, there went the concentration. Thankfully, I had, you know, sides to read over and an accent to practice, so concentration returned pretty quickly.
Audition went well I think, I'd love to get a callback for this film. Okay, I'd like to BOOK this film. This was my first major feature film audition and it's a great character and a great scene (dancing with the lead!) and I'd really like to do that, please.
Then I had another audition for a non-union indie film which went well also - nice guy, this director. Oh, really, you have 6 Emmy nominations for producing and one win? How lovely! I've not read the whole script but I liked the sides for my character. It would be ten shoot days on a deferred compensation basis - who's going to let me crash on their floor?
After that it was off to Actorsite for a cold read class - I like those. It's great to be able to drop in and practice something or try something new and see myself on-camera again... and I got good feedback, which always makes me happy.
I did find out that I wasn't cast in the student films I auditioned for on Saturday - sigh. BUT - I got a very nice email calling me a very talented actress and mentioning sibling match-up as the problem - so hey, what can ya do? Nice student filmmaker, I hope to work with her someday.
And one of the ABSOLUTE BEST THINGS of today - I got home in like 2:30 or thereabouts - leaving NoHo at 4:45pm. The traffic gods were making it up to me for this morning.
Either that or staying off the 101 is a Good Thing(tm).
(One more thing - yes, I AM sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. Damnit! Gonna go read a book, get my mind off of it....)
