Auditions!
So I had a couple auditions, neither of which were outstanding but both were solidly good. Of course, I think I need to be moving into the "outstanding" category, so there's definitely work to be done.
One was for a neat little industrial for motorcycle safety, the other for a locally written play about adoption. Now, this was a GOOD script, and I was really nervous about having to audition with a monologue from the script, probably in front of the playwright - but it actually went pretty well. I was nervous enough to prepare much better than I usually do, which was a good thing - I rushed my audition a little (as usual, gr) but I think the preparation really helped it still go well. I can't imagine what would've happened if I HADN'T prepared as well and then been a little nervous and rushed... scary. So hey, maybe I'm learning something after all!
Anyway, I stayed up in LA overnight Wed-Thurs to be in decent shape for my Thursday audition, and I think that was just an inspired decision. (The Super 8 in No Ho is very clean and cheap, by the way, and gets a solid recommendation from me. Don't expect much in the way of that free continental breakfast though - they had ONE bagel and ONE donut left at 8:10 - breakfast is from 7 to 9, so. Maybe they were getting more. Who knows.) I got to take a nap between classes on Wednesday ('cause Bonnie decided I was too tired and crazy to be in her house, smart woman), the drive wasn't bad to and from Hollywood, I had space and peace and quiet to get ready in the morning, etc. I'm going to have to start booking so I can spend more money on hotels, really made for a nice trip. And I have FUN staying in LA. I like it. It's weird - for example, where I live is peppered with drive-through 24 hour mexican food restaurants. It's great. But I couldn't find ANY in North Hollywood - but I DID find food trucks (aka Roach Coaches) parked at the curb on busy streets at 11:30 at night with lots of patrons getting some food. I thought this was weird. I'm wondering if it has to do with the price of commercial real estate or something - in any case, just not something I've seen before. And that's cool.
So the plans are now to wait for Terry to get home then catch up on some TV and relax. Doesn't that sound great?
