Uh-oh....
Well, I went shopping today. Now, I don't do this very often, for many reasons - you have to get showered and dressed (that's a biggie), you have to deal with people, and you have to try on clothes made for mutants. Either that or realize YOU'RE the mutant. Either way, it's not very fun.
Today was different. And my bank account probably is very glad that this isn't the norm. I met Terry for lunch then drove to the outlets at Viejas Casino up in Alpine - really this is a gorgeous drive and one of the prettiest outlet malls you'll ever see. It's got waterfalls all over the place, great landscaping, and piped-in bird calls. It's cheezy but it's nice. And there was NO ONE there today. I was the only person besides the sales people in most of the stores, there were a couple people I passed outside, mostly just sitting on the benches enjoying the weather, etc... very odd. But definitely my kind of shopping. I bought an angora blend sweater (yeah, it's dry clean only, so what? It was $23!), three pairs of pants, a cardigany thing, a present for someone and a pair of beach shoes (my feet HURT - wore flip-flops I rarely wear, bad idea). Then I drove to another mall and bought another pair of pants, some interesting shapewear by Spanx that I haven't tried on yet, thank you very much, and one of those nail kits with the cool buffers in them. Then... I drove to a shoe store! And I bought a pair of shoes! They were, of course, out of my size in black, which is what I need most, and in this entire huge warehouse of shoes these were the only ones I bought, but still! This is like a miracle day for me! Stopped and got me some green curry for dinner - really strangely productive day, and actually... fun.
I should state here that I think a large part of this unexpected fun was the location of the outlet mall in the mountains. (Yes, they're mountains. They're just old enough to be little now. Phbtbtbtbt.) The weather's gorgeous, the hills are gorgeous, the air is great, there's livestock and produce and stuff, and then driving home there's the hills silhouetted against the sunset. It's a very very peaceful place to go. I like me some countryside.
Anyway, in other news, scary stuff is still to be found emerging from my nose. I may have to call the surgeon and ask his nurse, "Is this... normal???" Wow. WOW. I'll spare you the details, but... WOW.
