You'll note I didn't say accent, 'cause, well, I'm a snob now about such things.

After living in Washington, Hawaii, Maryland (mostly), Pennsylvania, Alabama, Texas, and now Southern California, my dialect quiz (at

DUDE??? Philly? I didn't pick up THAT much Philadelphian from Bryn Mawr, I assure you! But I had a tough time with that quiz. Some of those words sound different in different sentences - and I flip-flop on some words, like "horrible". But PHILLY? I guess it's close to Baltimore, which is close to Annapolis, which is where I grew up, but I never ever ever thought I sounded like someone from Philly! (Notice the large percentage of Southern in there too... whoa. Scary.)
