Yet more classes!
So I signed up to take a few classes with the voice teacher, and I'm looking forward to it! I had a friend ask me basically what I thought I needed to work on with my voice, and boy howdy did that set off a bunch of thoughts. In a nutshell - I want to be good and versatile and able to do stage and screen. My voice isn't expressive or supported enough for serious stage work, the expressiveness is necessary for screen as well, and one day I'd like to NOT sound like I'm 14. I don't think I'll be losing the ability to sound 14 if need be, either.
I figure if I have a really well-trained voice, then the roles that don't fully utilize my voice will be even easier. And the discipline itself is good, not to mention all the good yoga-ish stuff that comes from breathing deeper. ![]()
So there! ![]()
I also found a great audition coming up - a locally written play at a great theatre company with a subject I'm actually really interested in - and it's an equity production co-authored/researched by one of my old acting teachers.
That's the sort of play I'd really like to do, and gosh howdy, what do you know - they say be prepared to do voice work at the audition. ![]()
