I Have...
...absolutely AMAZING taste in music.
Just listening to one of my playlists in iTunes, and really - great taste. Now, I admit - I'm not well-versed in popular music, or any other genre for that matter - but the stuff I DO like is really, REALLY good.
(U2 - mid-80's U2 - freakin' awesome - amazing vocals. Covers of Leonard Cohen - again, awesome. A little Elton John, Billy Joel, CCR - oh, and none of that "Crocodile Rock is the best song ever" crap. No, bluesy stuff for me today, please.
)
So what's going on today? Not TOO much. Got acting class today in their NEW SPACE, which is so cool. Unfortunately, our CRAPPY-ASS PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM won't allow me to take the train, which is annoying 'cause the station is NEXT DOOR to their new building. To be fair, I CAN take the train there. I just can't get home if I do. Why? 'Cause the last southbound train leaves at like 5:33pm!!! And I thought getting home from LA was impossible 'cause their last train leaves at 10:30 or so.... gr. What do the people do who commute via train every day DO if they get stuck at the office late or something? Sigh. Evidently the train's built more for people heading into the city from North County, but still - it's just not feasible for general transportation, say I.
Anyway, DESPITE public transportation being a completely infeasible option, I AM excited about seeing this new space, and about class in general. I want to run this new weird voice technique that this guy in LA teaches by my regular acting teacher, see what he thinks.
And before class, my task is to buy cat food to avoid the cats eating the dog or the humans....
And to mail out my updated headshots/resumes that I got together over the weekend - mailings take WAY LONGER THAN THEY SHOULD. And that's without a ton of personalization that I probably should do more of.... Oh well. Next time.
I have an audition for the Second City's conservatory program coming up in a couple weeks - haven't decided if I want to continue on yet, but gotta keep that option open. Our class will have a performance on the 17th, which should be interesting. I've not done improv for the world's entertainment before....
On another note, is anyone out there (all three of you
) watching 30 Rock? I was really iffy on the pilot, watched it twice and liked it better the second time, but I just watched the 2nd episode and liked it a little more... it was really kind of funny, and I LOVE Jane Krakowski.
I don't know if I'll KEEP watching the show, but I haven't officially dropped it yet.
