From the Sublime to the Ridiculous.
Okay, so I'm still sick but doing SO MUCH BETTER. I was a good girl and didn't push it too much today - I went up to my audition (considered cancelling, SO glad I didn't), took some drugs that ACTUALLY WORKED to decongest me, had a great audition, got back in the car and realized I had lipstick ALL OVER my teeth. To anyone reading this who might not know what to do when they see a person with, say, a booger hanging out their nose, their fly open, or lipstick on their teeth - TELL THEM. Really. It's the only kind thing to do. Besides, they'll hate you for not telling them once they realize it - you're much better off helping them out. Anyway, after the audition I just scoped out the locations of casting offices in the area and drove home.
Anyway, the topic of my post today is in reference to the two Johnny Depp movies I've seen lately: What's Eating Gilbert Grape, which (as I've said) is fabulous, and then yesterday's fare: Cry Baby. I couldn't figure out what on earth they were thinking until the end, when I realized it was a John Waters film. Ahhhh. It has its redeeming moments, but let's just say that I'm not in a hurry to see it again?
Oh, one more thing - I believe I will be signing up for the next improv class in the series at Second City. These people are freakin' geniuses. My class (IFA 1) is at 7:00 on Wednesday nights. So the next class in the series, IFA 2, is going to be offered next term at the SAME TIME. That means everyone from my current class can slip into the next class without rearranging their schedules, we can stay together as a group, etc. How nice is that? Setting aside any discussion of the merits of mixing up a group of people, the Second City folks say they're trying to keep the classes together as we progress to foster a sense of community, etc, and that's one darn-tootin' sensible way of promoting that.
Off to check breakdowns - and my plants.

Babble on.....no, your father didn't show me how to do this! I can now add another skill to my list of computer accomplishments. I'm starting to scare myself.
