Phew!

Okay, so I have a few minutes before going to LA - again.  I just got back last night at about 8:30 in the evening, heading back for a 2pm call time for the infomercial shoot.  I'm a little tuckered out!

Wardrobe today is business casual to nice casual.  I hate that category.  I'm much more comfortable in slob.  Oh well, I'm sure it'll be a fun, quick shoot and I can grab a BSW and head home again.

So what did I do in LA?  I had an audition/read with some other actors for a film I LOVE (how much of it was an audition and how much of it was me helping out I've no idea, which is a really great feeling actually - this guy's a dream to audition for, he runs auditions like a cold reading class), dropped off (or tried to!) a bunch of headshots and resumes, went to Samuel French and visited my agent on Tuesday.  I took food, it's a bribe to get them to let me in the door.   Had a nice chat with my agent, who I really do like a lot, stayed at a hotel 'cause I was tired and had to be in LA on Wednesday.

The next day, I helped Bonnie with headshots and postcards - filing, filing, filing.  I don't care for the postcards.  I like sending them out, and I like imagining CDs reading them and going "Eureka!  This is just the girl we've been looking for!" but I don't like the paper management side of things at all.   Had class Wednesday night, which I got to late 'cause it evidently takes an hour and twenty minutes to get from Santa Monica to Hollywood at 6pm on a weekday, but class was a lot of fun.  We had a substitute instructor who was great and we all seem to like each other anyway, so.   Got out of there at like 10:10pm and started driving to LAX where my lovely room at the Radisson was waiting for me.  Except 101 South doesn't connect to 10 West, so I had to take a weird U-turn.  Then the ramp from 10-West to 405 South was closed, so I had to take a weird detour.  Then the Radisson had overbooked and shunted my tired butt (at about 11:45 pm now) to the Hotel Hacienda.  I am so calling Priceline - it just wasn't comparable, although it was a perfectly fine hotel with very neat decor and nice people.  Anyway, it was 1:30 am before I got to bed.

Thursday arrived bright and early 'cause I had to be at USC between 9 and 9:15 to help Bonnie with her audition session for a USC thesis film - I did get there at about 9:15, watched some auditions, learned how to manage calling people into the room, watched the first go-through of the whittling-down process, etc.  I learned tons!  I saw so many amazing actors and learned a lot of what's expected for film/TV, and I saw a couple mistakes that I make and I FINALLY get why they're so problematic and why I really should listen to my instructors and quit doing them.   Let's see if that sinks in at long last....

And then I came home!  And now I'm going to walk the dog, feed and shoot the cats, maybe get some headshots together to mail out, get some gas and drive back up to LA.   I really hope this shoot goes quickly - I've been looking forward to it, but I want to move on.  And add it to my resume.  And send out postcards to commercial CDs....

    *giggle* You silly!

Of course... you tell me you have a blog and I'm gonna go look at it. Hee! You stay so busy! Such fun!

Okay, so it's Wednesday at the same place (but a different room on that same hallway) and I don't know how much of the time we'll use, but we've booked the space from 9am to 5pm again.

Woo hoo! Can't wait to see the director's final lists. He still needs to narrow the field a bit. Glad you've been enjoying what you've seen of the process. Fun stuff, eh?

    Keep on bloggin'!
