Whee!
See, what I always seem to forget is how GLAD I am after each audition that I actually auditioned. Thank god I have friends and family who seem to think I should audition for everything and who kick me in the butt when I don't feel like going. ;)
So I went to one general audition (professional local theatre) and one single-play audition for a local community theatre. I had a blast at both of them. :) By the way, the best reason to be nice to the audition monitor ever - and this is almost never cited, so you may thank me now - is because the person checking you in in the lobby might actually be the casting director. ;) That was actually a really pleasant surprise, as well as discovering that she knew the play my monologue was from and we could chat about it a bit. :) The community theatre audition was for a farce-like comedy (don't ask me the difference between a farce and a fast-paced comedy of misunderstandings) and so there were some really funny moments in those auditions (sets of cold readings from the scripts.)
Oh oh oh - BEST thing about that audition: there was this guy there that I vaguely recognized but couldn't quite place. He DID remember me though - turns out he worked the desk of the hotel we stayed in for 2 weeks while our apartment was having mold removed (two years ago almost!), and we'd talked about theatre and how he wanted to get into it and had never auditioned, etc. :) Well, he's auditioning now, and he was very funny in one of the roles, I'd be really surprised if he wasn't cast. Isn't that just cool? There are a couple times I've been lucky enough to see someone just starting out and it's really almost an honor. Not that I'm that much farther along, but. :)
I could go on forever about today. I had a great time. I'm so proud of myself for going to that local rep audition. Brave me! :) Now I just want ANOTHER audition....
